Motor Carrier/Household Goods Mover Complaint Entry System

Frequently Asked Questions

CES requires all complainants to enter their name, address, telephone number(s) and e-mail address. This information is needed so that we may contact you for clarification, to obtain additional information, and to keep you informed of the status of your complaint.

Should you feel you cannot provide your name and wish to remain anonymous you will need to contact TxDMV directly at 1-888-368-4689. Complaints received anonymously will not receive written notifications from TxDMV regarding the status of the complaint or the final outcome of the investigation process.

Please Note

All complaints received by TxDMV are subject to the Public Information Act. Texas Government Code, Chapter 552.

Once you have entered your complaint in CES, you will be assigned a "Complaint ID" number. Simply select the "Status of Complaint" tab in the menu bar at the top of the screen and enter the assigned "Complaint ID" number.

Once your complaint has been submitted, it will go through an initial review to determine if an investigation is warranted. This initial review process may take up to 72 hours.

If it is determined that a full investigation is not warranted the complaint process generally takes 3 to 5 days.

If it is determined that an investigation needs to be conducted, the process may take up to 90 days. However, in that each complaint is unique and evidence must be gathered to support any violations cited or penalties imposed, there is no time limit on how long an investigation can remain open before it is completed or closed.

Reminder

During any stage of the complaint or investigative process you can check the status of your complaint in CES by clicking on the "Status of Complaint" tab in the menu bar and entering the assigned "Complaint ID." You can also check the status of your complaint by contacting TxDMV directly at 1-888-368-4689.

You may contact us directly, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at 1-888-368-4689. If you have already submitted a complaint and have questions regarding that submission, please have your "Complaint ID" available to assist us in locating the proper documents and information.

If you have any documentation that supports your complaint you may email, fax, or mail them to our office. Please make sure all supporting documentation contains your name, address, telephone number, and the "Complaint ID."
